Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, is observed on the Wednesday of the seventh week before Easter. Ashes are applied with the minister’s thumb in the form of a small cross on the forehead of each person with the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

2012 Lenten Book Study
            If the Church Were Christian

This year our theme for Lent is If the Church Were Christian, based on the book by Philip Gulley, who will then preach in worship the Sunday following Easter (April 15). We as a church will read and study this book throughout the Lenten season.

Classes begin the week of Sunday, February 26, and conclude during Holy Week (week of April. 1). The classes will be taught by some of the most gifted and popular teachers at CoH and will be offered at a variety of times and locations. Click here for more information.
