Each year, the Cathedral of Hope gives away more than $1 million worth of direct financial aid and service to the community. Everyday, we provide opportunities to work in volunteer service for our partner organizations, adopted schools and charitable events. This is where we demonstrate our core values to the world.
No matter how, when, where or why we serve, the resulting lesson is always the same: humbling ourselves in service to others demonstrates the best that we carry within us—which is, of course, the unconditional love of God. We come to better know—and show—our true Christ-like nature.
“Too many words…just let them see what we do.”
This quote by Mother Theresa is the guiding light of Community Outreach, and it just doesn’t get any better than that. Like every ministry at the Cathedral of Hope, we are blessed with volunteers that work diligently, year-round, in order to share the best within themselves.
If you are looking for ways to connect with other people, tie your volunteer work directly to our core values, and find something wonderful within yourself, join us for an upcoming Community Outreach project!
This ministry provides a free breakfast on Saturday morning each week for anyone who is hungry.
Gift Wrapping - Seasonal
Volunteers wrap Christmas gifts at local stores with 100% of the donations from the wrapping services benefitting the CoH Evelyn Pruitt AIDS Crisis Fund.
On the last Sunday of each month, CoH collects food, grooming supplies and household products on behalf of some of our partner organizations’ most at-risk clients.
This ministry is made up of volunteers who assist with Benevolence and Financial Assistance.
We collect food items, bottled water and clean pairs of socks to be stuffed in bags that can be carried easily in your car to be given away as you encounter people in need. This ministry is supported by the Wednesday Night Contemporary Service.
Since 1996, The Child of Hope program has been a beacon of hope for countless children. What began as a simple project at Maple Lawn Elementary in our neighborhood, has quickly grown into an international labor of love.
Our Missions projects touch the lives of hundreds of people locally, nationally and internationally through our ongoing work along the Gulf Coast, continuing cleanup in New Orleans and our work along the Texas/Mexico border in Reynosa, Mexico.
Collect school supplies, uniforms and other items for local teachers and for the children who attend the Cathedral mission schools in Reynosa Mexico, the Little Blue Schools.
You have one hour a week to volunteer? Spend it in one of our adopted schools helping a student (or two) discover their strengths and conquer their fears.
Both the Thanksgiving and Christmas drives collect food; The Christmas drive also collects children’s toys. Everything is distributed through partner organizations.
Five times a year, volunteers for this ministry make repairs and improvements to homes of the elderly or disabled in our neighborhood.
The Cathedral of Hope Prison Ministry shares the message of God's unconditional and inclusive love and grace with inmates who have no emotional or spiritual support from family, friends or a church family and feel little or no hope.
