Children's Church

The Children and Families Ministry of the Cathedral of Hope serves our infants through 4th grade with a safe and fun environment staffed by experienced workers. As a member of the Center for Progressive Christianity, the Cathedral of Hope teaches God's inclusive love for all persons.

We hope that you will be able to visit the Cathedral of Hope and experience our first-class children's ministry that includes the following programs:

Infant and Child Care is provided for new born up through age five at both 9am and 11am and for all regularly scheduled services, including Wednesday evenings.

Children's Church (4 yrs. through 4th Grade) meets every Sunday at 9 & 11am. The children meet in community to participate in a complete worship service experience presented in a variety of media including songs, puppet performances, dramatic readings, and interactive storytelling. Children’s worship is designed around a sermon, prayers, offering, and Communion. The children have the opportunity to serve as ushers, readers, puppeteers, actors, prayer leaders, candle bearers, sound and lighting technicians and altar ministers. Contact Dan Peeler for more information.

Children's Sunday School for the same ages (4 yrs. through 4th Grade) follows at approximately 11:30 in age appropriate small group rooms, during which time the same lesson addressed in the children's sermon is reviewed and reinforced on an expanded level through discussions, games, crafts, and various other interactive events, concluded by snacks and free time.

Our Facilitators

The staff and volunteers of our Children and Youth Ministries have always been a dedicated team of enthusiastic teachers and workers who have a passion for presenting our younger worshipers with exciting Christian Religious Education. Presently, we have a team with careers and backgrounds in Biblical scholarship, live theatre, video and motion picture production, scholastic tutoring, advertising, graphic design, professional child-care, puppet production, computer programming, and music appreciation, and that is just the beginning of our list. Together, they blend their skills to provide creative and stimulating Sunday morning worship experiences that are meaningful events in the lives of our children.

Our Faith

We take the core values of our church very seriously, though our teaching techniques are anything but boring. Our lessons, games and songs center on seeing Bible stories and Church traditions as vital and exciting past adventures that have informed and guided us for centuries toward being a people of love and compassion. Our young people are reminded weekly that this love is from God and is a love of inclusion, and of liberation of all through the hope that is modeled best through Jesus in his saving life and works.

Our Facility

We are dedicated to, and in the business of creating healthy childhood memories, and our facility has been designed and built to reflect our continuing quest for this goal. Our display cases, murals, Christian symbol floors, and other art installations serve as teachers for both children and adults, even when the staff and volunteers are not present. All are welcome to visit our facility during the week to experience the Cathedral of Hope’s contribution to a children’s-eye-view of our vital and evolving 21st Century Christian faith. Also, all staff and volunteers have undergone thorough, state-approved background checks. A number-name tag sign-in system is in place for our young people’s security.
