Grief Support

Grief Support ministry exists to help and assist those who are grieving over the loss of a loved one through death, divorce, or some other crisis. The role of volunteers is “to offer a supportive presence” through monthly letters, phone calls, emails, listening groups and sometimes personal visits. We become the Body of Christ in the world and bear witness to the compassion that is the heart of the Cathedral of Hope community.

Hospital Visitation Team

The primary purpose of the Hospital Visitation team is calling on the sick in both hospital and homebound settings. Team members offer care and prayer. If requested they can also provide communion, and anointing with oil for the sick. Also may be provided:

  • Weekly Church Bulletins
  • Audio or Video Tapes of Services
  • A Listening Ear and a Loving Heart
  • Referrals as Needed

Hospital visitation services are offered by a team of trained volunteers, ministering on behalf of the Cathedral of Hope, these persons act as ministers and disciples of Jesus Christ, reaching out to those in need. They are sensitive to the particular needs of family situations when confidentiality and privacy must be respected on behalf of the individual.

Prayer Ministry

All of us are capable of praying for each other; especially for those who are ill or in need. If you have a busy schedule this is the perfect ministry. The prayer team does not meet regularly – you may take a prayer list with you anywhere! Whether you are a beginner or an experienced intercessor, we have a place for you.Every week, prayer requests for the members, visitors, staff, and friends of the Cathedral of Hope are compiled into a general prayer list. The requests are received in different ways

  • Many are written on the attendance pads from the service
  • Some are written on prayer request cards and placed in the Intercessory Prayer book
  • Some are called into the Intercessory Prayer voice mailbox
  • Some are from calls on the Cathedral Hope toll-free 800 number
  • Some are sent via this web site from all over the world
  • A prayer request list is circulated at the Cathedral of Hope weekly staff meeting

The prayer lists are made available to members of the intercessory prayer teams and the items and people on the list are prayed for daily. Many non-prayer team members take the lists and pray for the requests, also.

Life Needs Ministry

The Life Needs Ministry provides a variety of services deigned to assist those who are ill, have been ill, injured, or simply those who are lonely, or need a friend. This ministry is about compassion, listening, and helping. Simple gifts of transportation, in order to buy groceries, visit a friend or family member, see a doctor or come to church provide people with new hope, strength, and joy.
